Is a photo still a photo, if it only exists? If it is a grain of sand between so many photos, that it won´t ever be registered as a single photographic message? I think: Yes, it must be named "photo" still. But a photo in the digital revolution 2015, as a part of the media overdosis, is far away from the position "photos" had in the first hundred years of photography. With all the complexity that photos can show it is reduced to a sign, sometimes even reduced to a placeholder "Hey, here is a photo". Photos sink back to be numbers, where they once started as rarities. |
Is it still fun to make photos? Well, first of all I can take steps back if I like. I can say things like "I limit myself to do just one photo a day". So, with this freedom to reduce in mind, it´s a pleasure to provocate with the contrast. Because the worldwide overkill of photos (and harder overkills) is new, and our tries to handle digital overdoses are pionieer activities. To handle big lots of photos like I will do here is not the way "Big Data" are managed by software. I´ll do it with a bleeding heart. I´ll do it as an artist. |

Aber ein Foto in der digitalen Revolution 2015 als Teil der Medienüberdosis, ist weit entfernt von der Position "Fotos" in den ersten hundert Jahren der Fotografie hatte. Mit all der Komplexität, die Fotos zeigen es auf einem Schild reduziert, manchmal sogar zu einem Platzhalter "Hey, hier ist ein Foto" reduziert. Fotos sinken zurück zu zahlen, in dem sie einst als Raritäten gestartet werden. |
Ist es immer noch Spaß, Fotos zu machen? Nun, zunächst einmal alles, was ich kann Schritte zurücknehmen, wenn Ich mag. Ich kann Dinge sagen wie "Ich beschränke mich auf nur ein Foto pro Tag tun." Also, mit dieser Freiheit im Auge zu reduzieren, es ist ein Vergnügen, mit dem Kontrast provozieren. Da der weltweite Overkill Fotos (und härter Overkills) ist neu, und unsere Versuche zu hand digitalen Überdosierungen sind Pionier Aktivitäten. Um große viele Fotos zu behandeln, wie ich hier tun, ist nicht die Art, wie "Big Data" werden durch Software verwaltet. Ich werde tun es mit blutendem Herzen. Ich werde es tun als Künstler. |
Oben das Vorbild von 2008 von Ed Purver für das Projekt "Matrix" von Wolf Helzle, zu dem ich 2015 in Luxemburg ca. 400 Fotos beisteuerte.
Die Idee, viele Szenen auf einen Bildschirm zu werfen, bis hin zur Idee, die Erdkugel als eine Ballung von fotografierten und gefilmten Szenen darzustellen, ist bei Grafikern seit Jahrzehnten präsent. Hier zwei Beispiele aus der Suchmaschine:
